Abstract

-Abstract-
The purpose of this study was conducted to evaluate osseointegration and cytotoxicity
of the dental implant(Jaeil implant) newly developed in Korea. We used rabbits in order
to investigate degree of the osseointegration of the Jaeil implant. The experiment for the
osseointegration was accomplished by means of routine histological method for hard
tissue. For evaluation of the cytotoxicity in the Jaeil implant, Chinese Hamster
Ovary(CHO) cells were used. The cytotoxicity was measured by agar overlay test,
morphologic changes and micronuclei test
The results were as follows.
1. Jaeil implant was taken excellent results in the osseointegration.
2. When CHO-KI cells were cultured for 36 hr, there was not decolored region induced
by Jaeil implant specimens.
3. There were not severe morphological changes such as rounding, shringkage and
necrosis in the cultured CHO-KI cells. CHO-KI cells showed normal cellular
morphology.
4. The frequency of micronuclei was not increased by Jaeil implant specimens.
